River City Management Group, LLC has selected The Harwood Center and The Humane Society of Memphis as the 2013 Benefactors for the festival.

The Harwood Center strives to enable children with special developmental needs to reach their full potential by achieving and demonstrating more positive development in cognitive, social, language, motor and self-help skills.  Founded in 1957, Harwood Center is a nonprofit agency that provides support and education for Mid-South families and children from birth to age five who are affected by developmental disabilities. Harwood serves students with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, visual and hearing impairments, prematurity, behavioral disorders, and spina bifida. Its Downtown/Medical Center and East Memphis/Cordova locations permit Harwood to serve children from all areas of Shelby and four surrounding counties in West Tennessee. Since opening its doors, Harwood Center has helped more than 5,000 children with developmental disabilities get a better start in life.

Since 1933, the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of injured, neglected and abused animals.   With support from animal lovers like you, we are able to help prevent and stop animal abuse as well as help injured animals in Memphis and Shelby County. We are able to provide animals with a safe place to recover, nutritious food and outstanding veterinary care. On average, we provide sanctuary to over 300 animals at our facility at any given time, with dozens more placed with foster families until they are ready to be adopted and we are dedicated to giving these animals a brighter future.
